THE ART OF HYDRATION. EXCELLENCE SINCE 1908.
THE CORNERSTONE OF SIGG: VISION AND COURAGE
The history of SIGG Switzerland Bottles AG begins in 1908: Ferdinand Sigg, a specialist in metalworking, returns to Switzerland after his years of apprenticeship and travel. Together with his friend Xaver Küng, he founded a factory for aluminum goods in Biel.
Sigg and Küng are united by their love of metal and the conviction that aluminum is the material of the future.

MOVE FROM BIEL TO FRAUENFELD
Their success proves them right: just one year after starting production, Küng, Sigg & Cie already employs 30 people. Shortly before the move to Frauenfeld in 1917, Xaver Küng leaves the company. It is renamed SIGG AG Aluminumwarenfabrik.
The company retains its name even after years of expansion and success when it is taken over by its main supplier in 1936.
OVER 10 000 PRODUCTS
From the very beginning, SIGG has sold a wide range of pots, pans, tea cups, cutlery and household goods, including hot water and water bottles. Over the course of time, the company successfully conquers new markets several times with new ideas. In 1958, the product range comprises well over 10,000 products! The SIGG bottle becomes part of the household goods range by chance. The manufacture of pots and pans produces large quantities of surplus aluminum waste. During the war years, when resources were scarce, a sensible use was sought and found for this valuable raw material: SIGG develops a bottle!
HER CAREER BEGAN IN BED
There is a different story behind today's SIGG bottle than most people think: Its predecessor is not the water bottle from the 1920s, but the bed bottle, model 26.1661. It came onto the market back in the 1960s. Its profile was later roughly adopted by the classic Traveler Bottle, which soon became widespread. There is a different story behind today's SIGG bottle than most people assume: Its predecessor is not the canteen from the 1920s, but the bed bottle, model 26.1661. FAMOUS DESIGN
Design becomes an important factor for all SIGG products. The product range is reduced. In the following years, SIGG designers develop classic objects such as the traveler twist-off cap, style-defining cookware and renowned household appliances.
NEW LAUNCHES: A CLASSIC AND COLORS
The history of the SIGG Traveller bottle was different than you might think: it was not a drinks bottle from the 1920s that was the inspiration for it, but a hot water bottle from 1961. The classic Water Bottle from SIGG takes up the shape of the hot water bottle and is still considered the epitome of the reusable aluminum drinking bottle.

MULTICOLORED BOTTLES & NEW CAPS
At the beginning of the 1990s, new products are developed, such as the 0.75-liter aluminium sports bottle with the innovative three-stage sports cap. At the same time, SIGG introduces multi-colored bottles for children and travel bottles, thus meeting the trends and needs of the following years.
SIGG MOVES INTO THE MUSEUM OF MODERN ART
The "Original Swiss Bottle" is also an example of world-famous design and production performance. It received the highest recognition in 1993 when it was included in the renowned Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York City.
In the same year, SIGG produces its first design collection, turning a functional product into a coveted fashion accessory and collector's item.
REALIGNMENT AND FOCUS ON WATER BOTTLES
Following the takeover of SIGG Switzerland AG by a group of investors, the company is realigning its focus and product range in order to be prepared for the future. As the world market leader in aluminum Water Bottles, SIGG wants to further expand its position. The decision is therefore made to focus production and business on the bottles.
THE OBJECT OF DESIRE APPEARS
The era of SIGG Limited Editions began with this Water Bottle. The "Swiss Cross" bottle was elaborately manufactured and refined with exquisite materials. A red leather cover with a white Swiss cross protects the 0.6 liter aluminum bottle. Thanks to its unusual appearance, the "Swiss Cross" Water Bottle is very popular with collectors.
NEW SIGG HEADQUARTERS
In 2004, SIGG moves into new premises. The new office and warehouse building reflects the pioneering spirit and dynamism of SIGG: the façade of the building is made of aluminum and the surrounding area is made of the mineral bauxite, the raw material for pure aluminum.
100 YEARS OF EXCELLENCE
SIGG celebrates its 100th birthday with a market presence in more than 40 countries and as the market leader in aluminum Water Bottles. In the same year, SIGG expands its production facilities and introduces a new Kids Bottle Top.
A NEW OWNER - AND EVEN BETTER ACCESS TO CHINA
In February 2016, SIGG is acquired by HAERS, a manufacturer of stainless steel vacuum flasks from China. Access to the fast-growing Chinese market and its expertise in stainless steel, polypropylene and Tritan products make the new parent company the ideal partner.
The aluminum bottles will continue to be manufactured at SIGG's headquarters in Frauenfeld, Switzerland.
